Kyle Hattie

Kyle has taught Year 6 for the past  two years at Gladstone Primary School in Auckland.  He is excited to be a part of the Learning Journey at a brand new school and helping make Ormiston Primary the best school it can be. Kyle is looking forward to working with a team that has the same passion and enthusiasm for teaching and learning as he does.

He is passionate about inquiry and the different process students take when learning. Understanding how students are thinking and fostering that way of thinking is extremely rewarding and one of his favourite parts about teaching.

Kyle’s interests include coaching water polo and playing underwater hockey.

 

Abby Morgan

Abby has recently completed a three year Bachelor of Education with the University of Auckland.  She accomplished the first two years of her degree in Whangarei and relocated to Auckland at the beginning of 2014.  Abby brings with her the latest in educational philosophies and teaching practices.

Throughout her life Abby has had a range of experiences working with children of all ages and abilities.  Abby is passionate and committed to providing learners in her care with a personalised, stimulating and challenging environment.  In particular, she has an interest in incorporating and developing her enthusiasm for literacy.

Abby is eager to implement the skills and knowledge she has gained throughout her programme of study and as a collaborative team player is looking forward to working with the learners and assisting them to reach their full potential.

In her spare time Abby enjoys experimenting with photography, exploring the amazing walkways in the Auckland region and travelling with her partner Adam.

 

Tracey Dillner

Tracey completed a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland in 2009. Since then, she has worked at Elim Christian College on both the Junior and Senior Campuses.

Tracey has been a part of pioneering the use of devices in the classroom, as well as Shared Learning at Elim for the last three years. In 2014, Tracey has been working in a customised learning space with three teachers and 78 Year 7 students, where iPads have been used to compliment learning.

Tracey is very driven to extend her professional learning and that of others, often giving presentations in house, visiting other schools or at educational conferences such as uLearn. She is also excited by trying new hobbies and developing these into innovative learning experiences at school, where learners can create and collaborate.

Tracey is excited about building relationships and connecting with the new learners, whanau and community of Ormiston Primary School. She looks forward to being a part of the start of this learning journey.

 

Miriam Kamsteeg

Miriam joins us from a brief time at Parnell District School where she is currently teaching a New Entrant class as part of the Assistant Principal’s release. She previously taught at Riverhead School for five years.

Miriam has been a classroom teacher for New Entrants through to Year 5 as well as a Music/ Drama/ Dance specialist teacher for New Entrants through to Year 8.

Miriam enjoys singing and reading and passing on these passions to her learners. She is looking forward to developing relationships with her learners and members of the community. Miriam is especially enthusiastic about collaborating with her new colleagues in an innovative learning environment and seeing that transfer into learners excited about their learning.

 

John Dyer

John is currently the specialist Communication Literacy Curriculum Leader at Manurewa Intermediate School, while also heading up a successful school library team. He has great international experience in a dynamic range of positions and brings an abundance of flair, enthusiasm and expertise to our talented new coaches.

With a natural ability to engage students of all ages in innovative learning environments, John is delighted about the prospect of helping Ormiston’s newest learners navigate through their learning, tackling difficulties that arise and seizing the opportunity to meet and exceed  their goals throughout their time at Ormiston Primary School

 

Rebecca Remmington

Rebecca has been teaching for 8 years and comes to us from Sandspit Road School in Waiuku where she is currently teaching Year 7 & 8 students and has led both e-learning and Physical Education and Sport.

Rebecca is a highly motivated, enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about students reaching their full potential.  She is committed to creating a learning atmosphere that is stimulating and encouraging to all students.  Rebecca is also a learner and regularly takes part in professional development to strengthen her teaching practice especially in the area of blended e-learning.

Rebecca thrives on challenges and loves to travel and take part in new experiences.  If she isn’t out and about, she will usually be found curled up with a good book surrounded by her family that includes one partner, two children, two dogs, two cats and two rabbits.

She is excited about joining the Ormiston Primary foundation staff and being part of a great team creating awesome learning experiences.  She looks forward to meeting the learners and families in February 2015.
