Enrolments

Ormiston Primary School is required to have an enrolment zone to minimise the impact on neighbouring schools and for the Ministry to be able to manage the network of schools in the area.

A description of the draft proposed enrolment zone is as follows:

“Starting at the intersection of Chapel and Stancombe Roads, travel east along the centre of Stancombe Road to opposite Kensway Drive (excluded). Travel south and east around Sir Barry Curtis Park, south of Multose Drive (excluded) and south along the centre of Murphys Road (270, 271 and below included) to Ormiston Road (316, 445 and below included). Travel east along the centre of Ormiston Road (to 445, included) and travel south across country to west of Michael Bosher Way (excluded, Redoubt Road, Regis Lane, Shepherds Lane and all their no exit roads excluded). Continue southwest across country to Murphys Road (both sides included between Redoubt and Ormiston Roads). Travel northwest across country to cross Thomas Road (53, 64 and above included) at number 53 (Adamson Road, Joseph Street and Lane Cameron Place included). Continue across country northwest to the intersection of Chapel Road (69-163 odd numbers only included) and Broadhurst Road (excluded). Travel north along the centre of Chapel Road, back to the starting point.”

A map of the draft zone is here – Draft zone map

All students who live within this zone will be entitled to enrol at the school.  Proof of residence within the zone will be required.

  1. A draft proposed enrolment zone has been prepared by the Ministry and this will be discussed with boards of trustees from the surrounding schools at a meeting on 24th March. Following that meeting a revised (if required) draft will be posted on this website and also published in ,local papers. There will later be a public meeting for further opportunities to discuss the draft zone.

  2. Thanks, Please assist in having Richmond park included in the zone as it only has 2 schools in its zone, one with decile 1 and other other has a catholic preferential.

It would be appreciated if Richmond park residents are included in your zone.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi,

Please assist in including Richmond park in the zoning. Richmond Park parents are left out of many school options. We currently have only 2 options and that is 1 decile 1 and the other that has religious preferential.

This new school gives us a better option to both parents and children of Richmond Park.

    Thanks.

  4. Our son is attending kindy at EduKids Arramore Drive very close to where the school will be built. Will he be entitled to enrol even if we don’t live in zone. Thank you

  5. Hi, we can have a conversation about this when the first draft is posted. We had a good meeting with the neighbouring schools last week and we expect a draft zone to be posted soon.

  6. Until we have the draft zone posted we are not able to tell you whether or not you are in zone. If you do live in the new zone your son will be able to attend the school.

  7. Hi, I live in Clover Park on the hill just off Hiltop Road, which in turn is off Redoubt Road. Whilst I do have schools within my area, unfortunately the populations of these schools are demographically quite different compared to those of us who live on the hill. In this regard I have had to send my own daughters to schools outside the area. My house is just outside the Mission Height’s school zone. In fact the distance that we are outside the Mission Height’s zone is roughly equivalent to the distance that Ormiston Primary is from the Mission Height’s schools. The funny thing is, those of us that live on the hill – more commonly known as Manukau Heights don’t really have an Intermediate school close to us. I can see Ormiston College and the sites for the primary school and the junior college school from my window – these are in fact closer to me than the closest school zones that I fall under. I hope that you will consider including Clover Park in your zone.

  8. hi, just following up from the meeting on 24th March, when will the draft zone be available for viewing please?

  9. Hi Divend, please see the draft enrolment zone now on the website. We are unclear on the location of Richmond Park. You may wish to attend one of the public consultation meetings to discuss this further.

  10. Well I live in Micheal Jones Drive, we can just about see where the school is but still out of your zone. How can this be?

  11. I am in the same situation Todd and actually the zone boundary just passes a street away from mine. I hope the school considers in enrolling kids atleast in the first 2-3 years who are just out of zone because the population of flat bush is small at the moment. We can raise this for consideration at the public consultation meeting.

  12. Im hoping you will expand the zones as well, we only have Sancta Maria and Chapel Downs in zone, I was so excited about a new school being built but then disappointed that we might miss out, we are in Ksenia and it seems a lot of the zone is yet to be developed, Im hoping this will go in our favour

  13. Some 7 weeks after the so called zone has been put on the website and no more information. I’m out of your zone but with the exception of the catholic school you are the closest by miles. My son turns 5 in December so need to enroll him soon some where.

  14. Thank you for all your comments. We have these and a number of formal representations from the community following the consultation meetings we had a couple of weeks ago. We are currently assembling this feedback and will be providing it to the Ministry shortly for their comment. We will update the website further when we have their response.

  15. Hi,

In your proposal to the ministry and as discussed in the consultation meeting, please extend your zone to include the area of chapel downs residence, namely the other side of Chapel Road and atleast touching Te Irirangi Drive (covering Medvale, Eastland Road, Robin Brook, Michael Jones, etc).

We in this area only have one option of sending our kids to Decile 1 – Chapel Downs Primary when we deserve better choices being in this area.

We strongly want the ministry to consider our proposal.

  16. Total disgrace. I can just about see the school from my place and still not in the zone. The only schools in my zone are a decile 2 school about 4 kms away or a Catholic school which they wont take non catholic pupils.
